"... I went to the cavern to get some, and found a rattlesnake
in there. I killed him, and curled him up on the foot of Jim's blanket, ever so natural, thinking there'd be some fun when
Jim found him there. Well, by night I forgot all about the snake, and when Jim flung himself down on the blanket while
I struck a light the snake's mate was there, and bit him."
-The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain pg. 51-52
This passage from Huck Finn is a perfect example of a silly
tone because Huck plays a prank on Jim not thinking of the consequenses. The fact that Huck would still have the urge to pull
a prank shows how silly he is and how immature he still is. Huck is not mature and thus is silly in his actions and this passage
shows the effects of the prank that he pulled without thinking everything out fully. Being silly is the same as being immature
and in the book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck and Jim are very immature in their actions and thoughts.
